Zone 2 Police frown at officers’ conduct during arrest in viral video 

 

CITIZENS COMPASS— Zone 2 Command of the Nigeria Police Force, on weekend, frowned at the conduct of some of its officers during an arrest depicted in a viral video.

The Police Management under the leadership of an Assistant Inspector General of Police, AIG Adegoke M. Fayoade, disclosed this in a statement signed by its spokesperson, CSP Ayuba T. Umma, anipr,.

“The Police Management at the Zone 2 Command Headquarters, under the leadership of AIG Adegoke M. Fayoade, has noted the conduct displayed by officers during an arrest depicted in a viral video.

“The arrest in question was initiated following a petition filed against Ms. Mercy Attababa and others by Mr. Emeka Okoye, who alleged them of assault and threat to his life. The petitioner asserted that a group of armed individuals, suspected to be cult members, invaded his residence on 13th and 14th July 2025 issuing threats against him and his family, which compelled him to relocate for their safety.

“Following an inquiry and the collection of her statement, Ms. Mercy Attababa was released to the Lagos State University Student Union Government Welfare Director. The AIG has directed that the case be transferred to the Commissioner of Police Lagos for comprehensive investigation and subsequent reporting.

“The officers involved in the incident have been identified, and appropriate actions will be taken against them.

“The Command assures members of the public that justice will be transparently served.”
