200 youths benefit from digital skills in Ikorodu

CITIZENS COMPASS – Ikorodu Local Government Chairman, Wasiu Ayodeji Adesina has urged youths in Ikorodu to embrace digital skills proficiency for self-employment.

He made the appeal on Tuesday, during the digital skills training of 200 youths at the the Council Secretariat in Lagos.

Citizens Compass reports that Ikorodu LG organised the training programme in conjunction with Speed Up Lagos.

Speed Up Lagos is an acronym for Sanwo-Olu’s Protecting Enhancing Elevating Developing Upgrading Perfecting Lagos. 

The Chairman said: “this programme is a 5-day digital skill training on coding, graphic design, advertising promotion, animation, picture editing and beat production.

“The five-day digital skill training aims at improving the employability of youths, increasing the productivity of young minds and providing access to credible information.”

He added that it also aimed at enhancing communication, collaboration and creating entrepreneurial opportunities among youths in Ikorodu.

“My administration is set to develop, nurture and train interested youths on digital skills,” Adesina said.

Master Musibau Longe, a beneficiary, commended the chairman for the opportunity given to him.

“For me, it is an exceptional opportunity to build on my dream of becoming an IT expert,” Longe said.

Miss Seun Ogundipe, another beneficiary, urged other beneficiaries to make use of the skills acquired during the training to become self-employed.

She appreciated the Ikorodu chairman for bringing the programme to her doorstep in Ikorodu.
