CITIZENS COMPASS—As the battle for various positions for the 2027 general elections becomes hotter across the country, popular actor cum the lawmaker representing Surulere constituency 1 in the Lagos House of Assembly, Desmond Elliot, on Friday, apologised to Femi Gbajabiamila, the Chief of Staff (CoS) to President Bola Tinubu.
The apology came after Gbaja exposed the involvement in the failed impeachment attempt of the speaker of the house, Mudashiru Obasa.
A video had gone viral on Thursday, capturing Gbajabiamila disclosing the involvement which necessitated President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to summon the Chief of Staff to a meeting where he was asked to warn the actor.
In the video, Gbajabiamila said he nearly lost his job during the Lagos assembly speakership crisis last year.
Desmond Elliot made the apology on a breakfast show, Your View, by Television Continental (TVC) stressing that any misunderstanding between them was not deliberate and reaffirming his commitment to party unity and development in his constituency.
The apology became necessary amidst speculations that Elliot may be edged out from the House of Assembly race in 2027.
“I’m not saying, oh, yes, media will come out, oh yes, Desmond begs again. Yes, because he’s my egbon. And I grew up learning everything I
knew politics through him,” he said.
“To the matriarch of Surulere, mama, I’m sorry if I’ve offended you,” he said.
“But I will keep the party strong. And to all Surulerians, my scorecard is there. You know the things I’ve done to make Surulere a better place,” he stated.
