CITIZENS COMPASS— No fewer than 350 residents of Elepe community have benefitted from the free healthcare packaged by Igbogbo/Baiyeku Local Council Development Area (IBLCDA), Ikorodu Division in Lagos State.
The free healthcare, Free Optimal Wellness Outreach, was organised under the GLORY Agenda of the Council Chairman, Omo’ba Hammed Olalekan Aroyewun.
The outreach was held yesterday, at Methodist Primary School, Elepe. It formed part of the administration’s sustained commitment to bringing accessible healthcare closer to residents across the LCDA.
Beneficiaries received free medical consultations and treatment by qualified doctors and health personnel. Other services included blood pressure, blood sugar and Hepatitis B screening. Residents also received eye tests and free eyeglasses where required. Those needing further medical attention were referred for advanced care. Health education and wellness counselling were also provided.
Opening the programme, the Chief of Staff to the Executive Chairman, Hon. Wasiu Olowu, welcomed residents and thanked them for turning out in large numbers.
The Secretary to the Local Government, Alhaji Qudus Oduntan, also addressed the gathering. He recalled the commitment made by Chairman Aroyewun to the community and noted that the outreach represented the fulfilment of that promise.
Speaking at the event, Chairman Aroyewun thanked the people of Elepe for their continued support for his administration. He also announced plans to rehabilitate Oba Ijaolu Road in collaboration with Hon. Babajimi Benson, Member representing Ikorodu Federal Constituency.
The Chairman also highlighted the reconstruction of the C5 Ward at the Elepe Health Care Centre as one of the notable interventions recorded by his administration in the community.
Aroyewun urged residents to continue supporting initiatives that promote the development of the LCDA. He also cautioned against drug abuse, stressing that hard drugs can cause irreparable damage to the body.
On security, the Chairman urged residents to remain vigilant. He specifically advised them to pay close attention to uncompleted buildings in their neighbourhoods and report suspicious activities to the appropriate authorities.
Residents who attended the outreach commended the Executive Chairman for the initiative. They described the programme as a practical demonstration of the council’s commitment to improving the health and overall well-being of the people of Elepe Kingdom.
The administration reaffirmed its commitment to taking the Optimal Wellness Outreach to more communities across Igbogbo/Baiyeku LCDA.
