CITIZENS COMPASS– After five days in detention, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) on Wednesday, released popular social media influencer, Martins Vincent Otse, popularly known as VeryDarkMan (VDM).
Human rights activist, Omoyele Sowore confirmed the release on his social media handles.
Citizens Compass learnt that VDM was released to his lawyer, Deji Adeyanju.
Sowore in his post said, “Thanks to unrelenting efforts of all @thatverydarkman has been released from unjust detention at the @officialEFCC! He is with his ebullient lawyer, @adeyanjudeji. #RevolutionNow,”
On Tuesday, EFCC on his X Handle said it had extended an invitation to VDM without response.
Citizens Compass reported that he was arrested in Abuja on Friday.
After his release, VDM was captured in a video seated in a car with his lawyer.
He described the allegation of money laundering levelled against him as baseless.
Meanwhile, a protester has said that VDM is not a problem of Nigeria.
In a video circulating on social media, the male protester was captured bearing placards saying VDM was not the reason for the skyrocketed cost of living in Nigeria.
He urged the government to channel its energy to ensure a good standard of living in Nigeria.
“Free VeryDarkMan, free this man. He is not the reason why the price of fuel is increasing, he is not the reason why rice is N90,000.
“Focus on the issue, focus on why Nigeria is like this. Nigeria is finished: graduate no get work, we dey play Sporty Belt, girls dey hook up, free VeryDarkMan.
“VeryDarkMan is not our problem, is he the one who stole public funds ? If Tinubu na husband and Nigeria na wife, this means Nigeria na widow. Free this guy, free am..”
