CITIZENS COMPASS– A 15-year-old mother, Yafalmata Alhaji Mustapha, has allegedly dumped The body of her newborn baby in a pit toilet in Borno State.
The teenager, an internally displaced person resided within the Charamari Internally Displaced Persons (IDP) Camp in Monguno Local Government Area of the State.
The Borno State Police Command has effected her arrest.
A security analyst, Zagazola Makama, shared the information on his official X handle on Friday.
He said the incident occurred on Thursday.
The reason for her action was not stated.
According to him, the girl, identified as Yafalmata Alhaji Mustapha, a resident of the camp, was taken into custody after the body of the newborn was discovered in the early hours of the morning.
Police and medical experts visited the scene where photographs were taken. The infant’s body was evacuated to the General Hospital in Monguno,” Makama stated.
The infant was confirmed dead on arrival by a medical doctor at the hospital. The corpse was subsequently deposited at the hospital morgue for autopsy.
Following the examination, the body was released to the Chairman of the Charamari IDP Camp for burial in accordance with Islamic rites.
