Sanwo-Olu calls for peace, harmony at Isese Day

CITIZENS COMPASS—Lagos State Governor, Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu, on Wednesday, called on Nigerians to give room for peace and harmony on the occasion of the 2025 Isese Day.

Sanwo-Olu said this on his various social media platforms.

Traditionalists in Nigeria have earmarked August 20 of every year in commemoration of Isese Day.

The Governor said, “Today, I join our people across the South West in celebrating Isese Day. Today is a reminder of the values our forefathers passed down, tolerance, hospitality, peaceful living, and respect for others, no matter their faith.

“As Governor of Lagos and Chairman of the South West Governors Forum, I’m committed to protecting our culture and supporting the traditional institutions that keep it alive. I’m grateful to our traditional rulers and religious leaders for preserving our heritage and guiding us with wisdom.

“Even in a globalised world, Yoruba culture is unique and worth passing on. Today is a day to celebrate, reflect, and reconnect with our roots.

“I encourage us all to live in peace and harmony with one another. That is the true spirit of Isese.”
