Barcelona defeats Valencia with six goals demolition

CITIZENS COMPASS—Barcelona ran riot at the Estadi Johan Cruyff on Sunday night, humiliating Valencia 6-0 in their first home game of the season.

Fermin Lopez and Raphinha both bagged braces, while Robert Lewandowski came off the bench to grab two late goals, sealing a night of pure dominance for Xavi’s side.

Ferran Torres teed up Lopez for the opener in the 29th minute before Marcus Rashford, on loan from Manchester United, slipped a clever assist to Raphinha to double the lead after the break. Lopez struck again moments later with a thunderous effort, before Raphinha made it 4-0 with a crisp finish.

Lewandowski then put the icing on the cake, scoring twice in the final 15 minutes after being set up by Dani Olmo and Marc Bernal.

Valencia, who failed to register a single shot on or off target, were spectators throughout, as Barça toyed with them from start to finish in front of just 5,862 fans at the Johan Cruyff Stadium, with the Camp Nou still under renovation.

The victory lifts Barcelona to second in La Liga, two points behind leaders Real Madrid, as they now turn their attention to a tricky midweek Champions League trip to Newcastle.
