
Lagos CP hails NAOSNP as Week commences with walk
CITIZENS COMPASS—Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Mr Moshood Olorundare Jimoh, on Thursday, commended the foremost security association, the National Association of Online Security News Publishers (NAOSNP) which commences its annual Week with a walk.
The Walk titled: NAOSNP Walk Against Drug Abuse, Cultism & Domestic Violence yesterday, took off from the Command to terminate in Ikeja.
Declaring the Walk open, Olorundare Jimoh, commended the walk for focusing on domestic violence and preventing crimes in the society.
CP Jimoh stressed that the collaboration between the Lagos State Police Command and NAOSNP was a welcome development, as it enables cooperation and collective efforts on education, orientation, knowledge, with a goal of preventing crime and criminality.
The Chief Security Officer in Lagos said undoubtedly, crime and criminality levels in the state are remarkably low, however, we must not prioritize conflict.
He also underscored the importance of engaging with stakeholders, such as online Publishers in Lagos, to guarantee a coordinated effort aimed at minimizing crime rates in the state to enable absolute minimum.
Mr Jimoh pointed out that, ‘this is not the first time that the online reporters or publishers have come to us, and we’re working together on a project, with today’s achievement being particularly impressive. He noted that the members of the public in Lagos and beyond should recognize this as a suitable approach.
We are issuing this statement to inform the public and would-be criminals that crime has no advantages.
We advise individuals against engaging in criminal behavior, as we will track down and apprehend those who do.
The CP reassured the public, Lagosians, and the visitors that effective security measures are in place to safeguard everyone.
He therefore, expressed no fear concerning the Ember months, noting the Ember months are comparable to any other month, but what sets them apart is that there’s no rise in crime in the environment.
As I speak to you today, we are in the middle of the month (October) from September to December, we do not have any apprehension.
CP Jimoh thanked the Inspector General of Police (IGP) Kayode Egbetokun for the trust imposed on him as CP of the state and for the equipment provided for the command.
He similarly extended his appreciation to the governor of the state, Mr Babajide Sanwo-Olu for ensuring
that assistance is provided where required, and we are grateful for the numerous forms of support received, including existing and other needs met through command.
The NAOSNP ‘s activities continue on Thursday with a media workshop for Lagos-based journalists.
