Ijele wants DSS to probe Tunji-Ojo over NYSC certificate allegation

…Urges Minister to emulate Adeosun, Nnaji'

CITIZENS COMPASS—The League for Good Governance, Isaiah Ijele, has called on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to allow the Department of State Services (DSS) investigate the allegations of scandal surrounding the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) certificate being presented by the Minister of Interior, Mr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo.

This call came from Convener of the League, Isaiah Ijele, during an Arise Television interview at the weekend monitored by The DEFENDER.

It would be recalled that the Akoko, Ondo State-born Nigerian minister has been entangled with allegations of different kinds ranging from that of his activities as Chairman House Committee on Nigeria Delta Development Commission (NDDC) to that of the process recruitments into security and paramilitary organisations under his supervision as Minister of the Interior. The latest being on the hot burners has been the allegation that he forged his National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) certificate.

In his reaction to the allegation during the television broadcast, Isaiah Ijele said, “Alleged certificate forgery led to the resignation of the former Minister of Finance and, more recently, the Minister of Science, Technology and Innovation.

“Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo’s case should not be treated differently, regardless of his performance as minister. The integrity of this administration will be judged by how it handles Tunji-Ojo’s situation.

“If President Tinubu refuses to allow the DSS to investigate the minister over the NYSC allegations, it will undermine the rule of law in Nigeria.”
