At last, Obasa’s son becomes council chairman in Lagos
CITIZENS COMPASS— In what many described as a political twist, Ganiu Obasa, the son Hon. Mudashiru Obasa, Lagos State House of Assembly Speaker, has been sworn in as the Chairman of Agege Local Government area of the State.
The swearing-in followed the resignation of the former chairman, Hon. Tunde Azeez, popularly known as Disco.
Recall that Ganiu was a chairmanship aspirant who was asked to step down during the July 2025 Local Government election in Lagos.
Ganiu contested under the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC) but the party leaders intervened and requested that he step down.
However, his father used his influence and made him a running mate.
Citizens Compass gathered that Obasa continued the game by enduring that the party fielded a candidate that suffered health challenges.
It was learnt that there was a calculated attempt that after the election, the chairman would only stay in office for three months, resign and hand over power to Obasa’s son.
Hon. Azeez was said to have been on medical leave upon assumption of office.
Ganiu’s swearing-in was part of activities to mark 100 days in office following Azees’ resignation.
