Atiku picks ADC card

CITIZENS COMPASS— Former Vice-President, Atiku Abubakar, on Monday, officially became a member of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Adamawa state.

The former Vice President met with ADC supporters and stakeholders in Adamawa and indicated his readiness to join the party.

In a statement made available to journalists on Monday, Atiku’s aide, Abdul Rasheeth, confirmed the registration. Videos and photographs from the ceremony captured Atiku’s convoy entering the registration venue to a rousing welcome from supporters who sang, beat drums, and waved placards bearing his portrait.

Atiku acknowledged the excited crowd, waving from his vehicle before receiving his ADC membership card.

Shortly after the exercise, he posted on X (formerly Twitter): “It’s official. – AA.”

Atiku had endorsed the ADC in July as the preferred coalition platform for opposition figures—including Peter Obi and Babachir Lawal—to challenge President Bola Tinubu in 2027. However, he and other top opposition leaders had until now refrained from formally registering with the party.
