CITIZENS COMPASS— Three suspected financiers of terrorism have been cooling their heels with the Sokoto State Police Command.

The alleged financiers were arrested alongside others who were accused of motorcycle theft and criminal conspiracy.

The Command effected the arrest during separate operations leading to the recovery of rustled cattle and stolen motorcycles.

Spokesperson for the command, DSP Ahmad Rufai, confirmed the arrests on Friday explaining that the Anti-Kidnapping Unit under the Criminal Investigation Department arrested one Ruwa Ginyo of Gidan-Madi and two others on Wednesday in Tangaza Local Government Area after receiving credible intelligence.

Investigations revealed that the suspects allegedly received rustled cattle from armed bandits, sold them in markets, and remitted the proceeds to the criminals,” Rufai said.

He noted that four rustled cows were recovered from the suspects as they attempted to sell them.

In a separate operation in Talata Mafara Local Government Area of Zamfara State, Rufai said police traced and arrested several suspects connected to criminal conspiracy, motorcycle theft and receiving stolen property.

“During the cross-border operation, two suspected stolen motorcycles were recovered, with preliminary investigations linking the items to an ongoing case in Sokoto,” he added.

He confirmed that all the suspects remain in custody while investigators continue working to identify more members of the syndicates.

The Commissioner of Police, Ahmed Musa, praised the operatives for their dedication and professionalism, and urged the public to support the police with useful information.

“All details shared with the command will be treated with the utmost confidentiality,” he assured.
