Igbogbo-Baiyeku resolves NIN concerns at APC E-Registration

CITIZENS COMPASS—The Council Chairman of Igbogbo/Baiyeku Local Council Development Area (IBLCDA), Ikorodu Division in Lagos State, Omo’ba Hammed Olalekan Aroyewun, on Tuesday, said he has facilitated the deployment of National Identity Management Commission (NIMC) officials to strategic locations within the LCDA to ensure a smooth and inclusive E-Registration Exercise by the All Progressives Congress (APC).

This was in response to concerns raised by residents over challenges linked to the National Identification Number (NIN).

The APC e-registration exercise, which commenced on January 5th, has continued steadily across the council area. However, feedback from the grassroots revealed that some willing participants were unable to complete their registration due to the absence of a NIN. To address this gap and ensure that no resident is excluded, NIMC personnel have now been stationed alongside registration agents at designated centres.

Currently, NIMC staff are operating from the Ayegbami area of Igbogbo, covering Igbogbo Central and surrounding communities, while another team is stationed at the APC Party Secretariat in Ibeshe Kingdom. This arrangement allows residents without a NIN to enroll on the spot and immediately proceed with their APC e-registration, effectively removing a major obstacle to participation.

The Chairman urged residents to take advantage of this development, noting that the process has now been simplified and made more accessible. He emphasized that the initiative is driven by the need to encourage broad civic participation and ensure that all interested residents can exercise their right to register without unnecessary difficulty.

Chairman Aroyewun specially appreciated Hon. Babajimi Benson (JB), Member of the House of Representatives representing Ikorodu Federal Constituency, for facilitating the provision of the digital machines currently being used for the registration exercise. The Chairman also acknowledged Hon. Aro Moshood Abiodun (AMA), Member, Lagos State House of Assembly, for his pivotal role in coordinating NIMC engagement and ensuring the timely deployment of personnel to IBLCDA.

Residents across Igbogbo/Baiyeku LCDA are encouraged to visit the designated centres promptly to complete their NIN enrollment and APC e-registration, as the nationwide exercise is scheduled to conclude later this month.
