CITIZENS COMPASS— No fewer than 200 military personnel from the United States have arrived in Nigeria.

Their mission was to support Nigeria in her fight against terrorism.

A Sahel security expert, Brant Philip, on Sunday, shared the update on his X Handle formerly known as Twitter page.

He explained that the US troops would not take part in direct combat. Instead, they will provide training, advice, and intelligence support to Nigerian security forces.

According to him, the US personnel will also help ensure the steady supply of ammunition and other military equipment to the Nigerian Army. Most of the supplies are expected to support the Nigerian Air Force (NAF).

Philip added that more US Air Force transport aircraft are expected to land at three different locations in Nigeria.

Two of the likely destinations are the Nigerian Air Force bases in Kainji and Maiduguri, with Maiduguri being given priority.

Nigerian officials have also maintained that the US troops are in the country strictly to offer training, advisory services, and intelligence analysis.

Earlier, it was reported that three US military aircraft landed at the Nigerian Air Force base in Maiduguri, Borno State, on Sunday.
