Owode-Onirin: Police dismiss four officers over killing of traders

CITIZENS COMPASS— The Nigeria Police Force has dismissed four of its officers following the killing of some traders in Owode-Onirin area of Lagos State.

The traders were killed in August 2025 following an invasion by some suspected land grabbers.

Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Moshood Olohundare Jimoh, confirmed the dismissal during an interaction with newsmen at Police Officers’ Mess, Ikeja.

The Commissioner of Police said investigations into the tragic incident were still ongoing.

He said the affected officers had already been dismissed from the Nigeria Police Force.

“This matter has not been swept under the carpet, and we want the public and all the families of the victims to know that nobody can stop us from ensuring that justice is done,” the police commissioner said.

“We will leave no stone unturned and will not be intimidated by anyone. All suspects will be prosecuted, and the courts remain open to hear every case.”

The CP added that about 98 percent of the investigation into the incident had been completed, stressing that the police would continue to take decisive actions to ensure safety across the state.

He also reaffirmed the commitment of the police to their constitutional duty of maintaining law and order, insisting that no individual or group would be allowed to obstruct the course of justice.

CP Jimoh urged residents and traders across Lagos to remain vigilant while assuring them that the police remain committed to protecting lives and property and ensuring justice for the victims.
