Abiru salutes Nigerian women at International Women’s Day 2026

CITIZENS COMPASS— The Senator representing Lagos-East, Mukhail Adetokunbo Abiru, FCA, on Sunday, saluted Nigerian women on the occasion of International Women’s Day 2026.

Abiru disclosed this in a statement posted on the social media handles of his spokesperson, Enitan Olukotun.

The statement reads: As the world marks International Women’s Day, I join esteemed constituents of Lagos East Senatorial District in celebrating the resilience, achievements and invaluable contributions of women to our families, communities and national development.

This year’s theme, “Give to Gain,” is a powerful reminder that when society invests in women through education, opportunity and empowerment, everyone benefits. Empowered women strengthen families, grow businesses and drive sustainable development.

Across Lagos East Senatorial District, my interventions have deliberately prioritised women’s empowerment.

Through SAIL Empowerment Foundation, many young women have received world-class training in technology, innovation, inquiry-based learning for teachers, and entrepreneurship at SAIL Innovation Lab, equipping them with skills to thrive in the digital economy and compete globally.

In addition, various constituency programmes have supported women entrepreneurs, traders and artisans with grants, capacity-building and social interventions aimed at improving livelihoods and promoting economic empowerment and financial independence.

To the remarkable women across Lagos State and particularly in Lagos East Senatorial District, I salute your strength, leadership and enduring contributions to our society.

Happy International Women’s Day.
