CITIZENS COMPASS— The National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN), Lagos East Chapter, on Wednesday, called for a comprehensive upgrade of Sungbo Eredo, Igboye community, Epe Local Government, Lagos State, into a world-class tourist destination.
The State Vice Chairman of the group, Asoro Olatunji, made the call after a high-impact Executive Leadership Retreat in Igboye.
Citizens Compass reports the retreat brought together youth leaders from across Lagos East for capacity building and strategic engagement.
The training was organised with the Lagos Youth Development Institute and featured facilitators across leadership, governance and community development.
According to Olatunji, Sungbo Eredo holds significant historical and cultural value that remains largely untapped due to poor infrastructure and limited visibility.
He said a coordinated investment drive could transform the site into a thriving tourism hub attracting local and international visitors.
“With proper infrastructure and global branding, Sungbo Eredo can compete with leading tourist destinations worldwide.
“We call on government and private investors to rebrand Sungbo Eredo into an international-standard tourist centre.
“This will generate income for the state, boost local businesses and create jobs for our teeming youths,” Olatunji said.
Facilitator, Deen Sanwoola, stressed the need for “purpose-driven leadership training” to equip youths for evolving social and economic challenges.
He said such training would strengthen youth participation in governance and improve community-level problem solving across Lagos East.
Citizen compass reports the council also paid a courtesy visit to traditional ruler, Oba Orijeru of Igboye; His Royal Majesty, Oba Abdurasak Akanni Musa, Orijeru of Igboye Kingdom.
Adewale commended the youth leaders for choosing Igboye as their retreat destination and welcomed initiatives promoting local development.
He urged the youths to remain committed to peace, unity and sustainable progress in their communities and Lagos State at large.
