CITIZENS COMPASS— Fresh defections have hit the opposition party, the African Democratic Congress (ADC) as 17 House of Representatives members have dumped the party.

The lawmakers immediately defected to the Nigerian Democratic Congress (NDC) which previously recorded nil number in the House of Representatives.

The Speaker, Abass Tajudeen, disclosed this on Tuesday, during plenary.

Tajudeen said that a member, Leke Abejide, has moved from ADC to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

Among the lawmakers who defected to the NDC were Yusuf Datti, Uchenna Okonkwo, Adamu Wakili, Thaddeus Attah, George Ozodinobi, Lilian Orogbu, Oluwaseyi Sowunmi, Peter Aniekwe, Mukhtar Zakari, George Oluwande and Munachim Umezuruike. Others are Emeka Idu, Jesse Onuakalusi, Ifeanyi Uzokwe, Afam Ogene and Abdulhakeem Ado.

The defection occurred a few hours after former presidential candidates Peter Obi and Rabiu Kwankwaso defected from the ADC to NDC.
