CITIZENS COMPASS— A teacher with Kings’ School in Winchester, United Kingdom, simply identified as Mrs Bamford, has reportedly died while her students were preparing to sit for their GCSE examinations.
The tragedy drew a host of emergency services including an air ambulance and others.
Kings’ School described the incident as an urgent medical situation saying the deceased was a long-serving staff member Students arriving for classes and examinations were placed under supervised procedures as the incident unfolded, while the school later dismissed pupils early but allowed Year 11 GCSE examinations to continue as scheduled.
Tributes were later placed outside the school by grieving students and members of the community, many of whom described the deceased teacher as compassionate and kind.
One of the tributes praised the teacher for inspiring students and teaching with kindness and compassion, adding that her death had created a vacuum that would be difficult to fill.
Another condolence message described her as one of the kindest and most caring teachers, while expressing sympathy to her family and stating that she would never be forgotten.
In an email reportedly sent to parents and obtained by local media, the school disclosed that it decided to close early due to the ongoing medical emergency involving a member of staff.
The school also stated that all pupils remained safe and supervised during the incident, while arrangements were made for a controlled dismissal process.
According to the statement, all Year 11 examinations continued as scheduled despite the incident.
Hampshire Police confirmed that officers were called to the school located on Romsey Road in Winchester at about 9:54 a.m. following reports of a medical incident.
Police authorities disclosed that the woman, believed to be in her 40s, was pronounced dead at the scene, while her next of kin had been informed.
The police further stated that the death was not being treated as suspicious and that a report was being prepared for the coroner.
