Lagos Police heightens security for Eid-El-Kabir, Children’s Day celebrations

CITIZENS COMPASS— Lagos State Commissioner of Police, CP Tijani Fatai, psc, mnips, on Wednesday, ordered massive deployment of Police personnel to worship centres, critical infrastructures, highways, motor parks, recreation centres, linking and exit routes, as well as other strategic and vulnerable points across the State. This is in line with the directives of the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu, psc(+), NPM, to ensure public safety and security at Eid prayer grounds, recreational centres, and other vulnerable points during the festive period.

As part of efforts put in place to guarantee a hitch-free celebration, the Commissioner of Police has directed Area Commanders, Divisional Police Officers, Tactical Commanders, Police Mobile Force personnel, Counter Terrorism Units, EOD- CBRN operatives, and Traffic Officers to ensure visibility policing, effective crowd control, and implementation of robust anti-crime prevention and control strategies in their respective areas of responsibility to guarantee adequate security of lives and property, as well as free flow of traffic.

They are also to strengthen security along linking roads, entry and exit points, highways, city centres, and other strategic locations across the State. The Commissioner of Police further warned all Police operatives to remain professional, courteous, and civil in the discharge of their lawful duties.
The Commissioner of Police also felicitates and rejoices with all Muslim faithful in the State and wishes them a joyous, peaceful, and crime-free Eid-el-Kabir celebration. He equally extends warm greetings to children across the State on the occasion of the 2026 Children’s Day celebration, which coincides with the Eid-el-Kabir festivities. He advised children and youths to shun violence, crime, and criminality, embrace positive values and a bright future, while remaining security-conscious and vigilant at all times.

Furthermore, the Commissioner of Police enjoins members of the public to be security conscious and promptly report any suspicious persons, movements, or incidents observed within their neighbourhoods to the nearest Police station. He also implores travelers and other road users to cooperate with Police operatives deployed across highways and other duty posts throughout the State to ensure a peaceful, safe, and orderly celebration for all.
