CITIZENS COMPASS— A group of protesters on Monday, demanded the unconditional release of the pupils and teachers in the Ogbomosho area of Oyo State.
The protest was held in Ibadan, the state capital under the agies of the Take-It-Back (TIB) Movement.
The protesters gathered at Mokola Roundabout chanting“Bring Back Our Pupils and Teachers”.
Citizens Compass reported that many pupils alongside their teachers were abducted on May 15, 2026, during an attack on Baptist Nursery and Primary School, Yawota, as well as Community Grammar School and L.A. Primary School in Ahoro-Esiele in Oriire Local Government Area of the State.
The protesters bore placards with various inscriptions such as “Security for all, not for a few,” “Government must end kidnapping in Oyo State,” “We demand safer roads and communities,” “Protect farmers, traders and students,” and “Peace, security and justice.”
Recently, Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, disclosed that 39 pupils and seven teachers were kidnapped during the attacks. He also said one of the abducted teachers had been killed, while some members of a joint rescue team comprising soldiers, police officers and local vigilantes sustained injuries after encountering explosives allegedly planted by the kidnappers during rescue operations.
Presidential of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, has directed that 1,000 forest guards be recruited to join the existing ones in search of the abductees.
