General Hospital trains 60 health professionals to enhance emergency care

CITIZENS COMPASS— No fewer than 60 medical doctors and nurses at General Hospital Isolo, Lagos State, on Monday, have completed a three-day training on oxygen administration and airway management.

The training is aimed at strengthening emergency response and improving patient outcomes in respiratory and critical care situations.

This is disclosed in a press statement signed by the head, Isolo Hospital Public Affairs, Mordi Patricia and made available to newsmen in Lagos.

Patricia said the exercise, organised by Dr. Adeolu Arogundade, the Medical Director(MD), focused on the importance of oxygen therapy and airway management in treating hypoxia and maintaining adequate ventilation for patients in distress.

According to her, participants were trained on essential airway management techniques, including manual airway manoeuvres, suctioning procedures, and the use of airway adjuncts and advanced devices.

“The programme also covered the safe administration of oxygen through nasal cannulas, face masks, non-rebreather masks and bag-valve-mask ventilation.

“The administration with emphasis placed on achieving appropriate oxygen saturation targets for patients.

She said the idea was facilitated by Victory Itofa of Cardinal Academy of Emergency Care, the training provided practical skills for managing airway emergencies.

Arogundade reiterated the hospital’s commitment to continuous capacity building and quality emergency care services.
