CITIZENS COMPASS— The Presidency on Thursday, tasked governors all over the federation to take responsibilities for the spate of kidnappings in their respective states.

Daniel Bwala, Special Adviser to President Bola Tinubu on Policy Communication, gave the advice while fielding questions on an online programme, Morayo Show anchored by a former presenter with Television Continental (TVC), Morayo Afolabi-Brown.

According to the presidency: Every time someone is kidnapped or taken against their will in any part of Nigeria, the governor of that state should be held responsible. And I will say, and I want it to be a memorable word.

Every local government area, all the kidnappings have happened in local government areas.

He said the continued attacks in communities raise serious concerns about leadership, coordination and accountability among state governments and local authorities.

There was a programme called the Safe School Initiative that began, and money was given to states to build fences around schools, set up early science warnings, and carry out all those safety checks.

Ask your governor where that money was spent.
