Another Gospel singer dies
CITIZENS COMPASS— Tragedy hit the Gospel industry as Taiwo, one of the Adegbodu Twins, has passed on.
Taiwo’s death was announced in the early hours of Sunday.
Taiwo, who alongside his twin brother, Kehinde, came to limelight about three decades ago.
They both introduced another pattern to Gospel music.
The Adegbodu Twins were discovered in the White garment sector and both have maintained a cordial relationship since then.
Born in Oyo State, their journey to prominence began with the debut album ‘Faratimi (Lean on Me)’ in 1999. The project was a resounding success, establishing them as vital new voices in contemporary Christian music.
They became known in households across Nigeria, known for a rich catalogue of hit tracks that provided the soundtrack for worship and reflection for countless fans.
Their most popular songs include ‘Shower Your Blessing,’ Hallelujah,’ ‘God Concert,’ ‘Bojuwomi,’ ‘Emi Mimo,’ ‘Igbagbo Dun,’ ‘Ma Beru,’ and ‘Adura Mi Gba’.
Announcing the death, Adegbodu Twins Fans Page posted on its Facebook page thus’: TAIWO, why will you leave me and your kids without notification?
My heart is bleeding, lord how do you want me to cope without him?
God why? This is too much for me to bear!!!
Popular Gospel singer, Esther Igbekele, on her Facebook page wrote: ERIN WO.. AJANAKU SUN BI OKE… HARD TO BEAR.. GOOD NIGHT BRO…😭😭😭
The cause of his death was unknown.
Taiwo’s death occurred barely two months after the death of a female Gospel singer, Bunmi Akinnaanu popularly known as Omije-Ojumi who died on January 12, 2026
