CITIZENS COMPASS— A member of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Saheed Adewale Oriade, was yesterday, reportedly kidnapped.

The incident reportedly occurred in Ibadan, Oyo State at about 7 p.m..

Three armed men were said to have forced him into a waiting vehicle and whisked him to an unknown destination.

His mobile phone was said to have been switched off since then.

The incident was confirmed by an APC chieftain and former House of Assembly candidate for Ibadan Southwest Constituency 1, Hon. Tolani Adigun who expressed deep concern over the incident which he described as “unacceptable” and a painful reminder of the worsening insecurity confronting the nation.

Adigun confirmed this in a statement condemning the abduction and called on all security agencies, both at the state and federal levels, to act decisively and deploy every necessary resource to ensure the immediate and safe rescue of Oriade.

She stressed that criminal activities must not be allowed to take root in Oyo State, emphasising the urgent need to strengthen the state’s security architecture, enhance intelligence sharing, and safeguard the lives and property of all residents.

“My thoughts and prayers are with Hon. Oriade’s family during this difficult time,” Tolani said, urging residents and party members to remain calm as security operatives intensify efforts to secure his release.

She further appealed to security formations to treat the matter with utmost urgency, reiterating that Oyo State “must not be surrendered to criminals.”

She prayed for the safe return of Oriade, asking God to protect him and bring him home safely.
