Aroyewun swears in Council Secretary, supervisors, special advisers
…Patricia Okosodo to supervise primary health
CITIZENS COMPASS— The Council Chairman of Igbogbo-Baiyeku Local Council Development Area (IBLCDA), Ikorodu Division in Lagos State, Omo’ba Hammed Olalekan Aroyewun, on Monday, swore in the Secretary to the Local Government, supervisors and special advisers.
Aroyewun charged them to pursue purpose rather than prestige in the course of their official duties.
This is just as former Deputy Speaker, National Youth Assembly of Nigeria, Comrade Patricia Oluwatobiloba Okosodo, was sworn in as Supervisor for Primary Health Services.
The event was held at the Council Secretariat, Igbogbo.
While swearing in the appointees, Aroyewun in his address, said the event was a defining moment in the continuing journey of his administration.
He urged them not to be found wanting while discharging their duties.
According to him: Today is more than a ceremonial gathering; it is a defining moment in the continuing journey of our administration to deepen service, strengthen governance, and accelerate development across Igbogbo/Baiyeku LCDA.
This ceremony marks the formal inauguration of an integral team that will work closely with my office to drive the vision of our administration and meet the aspirations of our people.
I sincerely appreciate and commend our Legislative Arm led by the Leader of the Legislature, Hon. Basirat Banjoko, and her esteemed colleagues: Hon. Hakeem Solawon (Deputy Leader), Hon. Habib Anifowoshe (Majority Leader), Hon. Yusuf Bello (Deputy Majority Leader), and Hon. Saidat Adeoba Odeyemi (Chief Whip), who has been working in synergy and absolute cooperation with my office for the development of our dear IBLCDA.
To the appointees, the oath you have taken is not merely a constitutional requirement; it is a solemn commitment to serve with integrity, diligence, and an unwavering sense of responsibility.
Public office is not about prestige; it is about purpose. It is about the lives we touch, the opportunities we create, and the legacy we leave behind for generations to come.
Our administration is guided by a clear roadmap: the GLORY Agenda, which is our guiding philosophy and development framework. The GLORY Agenda reflects our collective commitment to building a stronger, healthier, more peaceful, more prosperous Igbogbo/Baiyeku LCDA. The Agenda is anchored on five critical pillars:
G – Good governance &. green interventions
Ensuring transparency, accountability, responsiveness, and inclusive leadership in the administration of our council. And providing interventions on food security and improved environment.
L – Learning
Expanding opportunities for our children and young people through improved support for education, scholarships, and capacity development.
O – Optimal wellness
Strengthening our healthcare systems, promoting environmental sanitation, and advancing public health initiatives that improve the well-being of our people.
R – Roads and other physical infrastructure
Investing in the development, construction, rehabilitation, and maintenance of roads, drainage systems, and essential infrastructure that enhances mobility, safety, and economic activity within our communities.
Y – Youth and sports development
Empowering our youths through skills acquisition, entrepreneurship support, and sporting initiatives that harness their energy and talent for productive engagement.
These pillars are not just policy statements. They are promises we made to the people, and promises we are determined to keep.
Since assuming office, we have taken deliberate steps to translate these commitments into tangible results. From road rehabilitation and grading interventions across inner communities to renovation of school buildings to improvements in our primary healthcare facilities; from educational support initiatives for our students to youth empowerment, community engagement and welfare programmes — the progress we have made reflects what purposeful leadership and collective effort can achieve.
But we must be clear: the journey is far from complete.
The expectations of our people are high, and rightly so. Our communities look to us for solutions, for hope, and for measurable progress. This is why the team being inaugurated today is so important.
To our Secretary to the Local Government, Alh. Qudus Ọdúntán, you occupy a strategic position within this administration. You are the administrative anchor of the administration’s executive council, responsible for ensuring that our processes remain efficient, transparent, and aligned with the vision of this administration and our party, All Progressives Congress (APC).
To our Supervisors and Special Advisers, you represent the operational strength of this administration. Each of you has been carefully selected not just because of your experience or qualifications, but because we believe in your capacity to contribute meaningfully to the progress of our LCDA.
I therefore charge you today: approach your responsibilities with discipline, creativity, and a deep sense of service. Work collaboratively with one another and with council’s staff. Engage actively with our communities. Bring forward innovative ideas that will strengthen our policies and programmes.
Above all, remember that governance is most meaningful when its impact can be seen and felt in the everyday lives of the people.
Let us also remember that the strength of our administration lies in unity. We must resist every attempt to divide us. The task before us requires cooperation, mutual respect, and a shared commitment to the greater good of Igbogbo/Baiyeku LCDA.
As you start your roles today, may Almighty God grant you wisdom in decision-making, courage in leadership, and strength in service.
I use this opportunity to reassure our people that, together with our new appointees, we will continue to build a council that works for everyone — a council that listens, that delivers, and that stands as a model of grassroots governance in Lagos State and Nigeria at large. Join us in moving forward with renewed dedication to our collective mission.
