Bandits kidnap Dangote Cement workers

…Many injured

CITIZENS COMPASS – Gunmen have reportedly ambushed and kidnapped scores of Dangote Cement workers in Kogi State.

The workers were said to be returning from work when they were laid at Okpella on Monday, May 13, 2024.

It was gathered that the attackers shot several workers during the bloody attack.
Eyewitnesses’ accounts who spoke to Peoples Gazette said it was unclear how many people were wounded or the severity as of Monday evening.

“Other people are in the bush. My colleague has bullet wounds. A coaster bus filled with staff was attacked at Okpella. Kidnappers,” a witness said.

“They kidnapped our whole staff bus. Kidnappers took our staff.”
Meanwhile, the spokesperson for Okpella Cement Plc, Michael Odofin, has confirmed the attack and abduction of the company’s workers.

Although he didn’t provide details of the incident, he simply said, “I cannot give any details right now but our workers were attacked. The attack is still fresh. We have no one killed.”

However, efforts to speak with the Edo State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Chidi Nwabuzor, were unsuccessful as the calls made to his cell phones were left unattended to.

He has yet to respond to a text message inquiry.
