CITIZENS COMPASS— The Coalition Against Corruption and Bad Governance (CACOBAG) and Movement for Improved Welfare for Nigeria Police Force (miwNPF) yesterday, expressed trust at the appointment of the new Acting Inspector General of Police (IGP), Olatunji Disu.
The Groups expressed the gesture in a statement signed by Toyin Raheem, National Co ordinator, miwNPF, Idowu Taiwo for CACOBAG, which reads: We of Coalition Against Corruption and Bad Governance CACOBAG and Movement for Improved Welfare for Nigeria Police Force (miwNPF) express our pleasure with the appointment of Rilwan Olatunji Disu as the Inspector General of Nigerian Police Force.
We congratulate the brand new Acting Inspector General of the Nigerian Police Force, Olatunji Rilwan Disu.
We have trust in his ability to lead and run the affairs of the Police with best practices from around the world. He has proven in the past that there are fine police officers who respect the masses as partners in progress to combat all acts of criminality, respect people’s fundamental human rights, protect their legal rights, and demonstrate that the Police are genuinely friends of the masses.
He has won the hearts of the people with his achievements in intelligence-led operations which led the Force Intelligence Bureau-Intelligence Response Squad FIB-IRT to success, including the arrest of a fraud syndicate that was breaching bank accounts. As Commander of Lagos State Rapid Response Squad (RRS), he implemented community-oriented policing which transformed the unit into a proactive force. He also led Nigeria’s first police contingent to the African Union Mission in Sudan AMIS and initiated a Tactical Training Refresher Course for officers on riot control, marksmanship, and weapon handling.These are great feats that made him worthy to lead our Nigerian Police Force.
No doubt, he is the right choice. He is capable, efficient and dynamic.
