The resignation was in adherence to a circular dated February 28, 2026, issued by the Secretary to the State Government, Umar Musa Ikhilor and made public on Monday.
Ikhilo directed all political appointees, civil servants and all those serving in the administration who are aspiring to vie for elective positions in the 2027 general elections to resign with immediate effect.
The letters were addressed to the Secretary of the State Government, Umar Ikhilor.
In his letter, Washington Osifo said he resigned to pursue his ambition of contesting the House of Representatives seat for Orhionmwon/Uhumwonde Federal Constituency.
