Court remands Naira Marley, Sam Larry, over Mohbad’s death 

CITIZENS COMPASS —A Magistrate Court sitting in the Yaba area of Lagos State, on Wednesday, October 4, 2023, remanded Azeez Fashola popularly known as Naira Marley, and Lagos socialite, Balogun Eletu, popularly known as Sam Larry,  in police custody.

The Lagos State Police Command requested that Fashola and the others be remanded for 30 days pending the completion of their investigation.

However, Magistrate Adeola Olatunbosun ruled that Fashola and the others be remanded for just 21 days.

The Lagos State police command had requested the court’s approval to detain both men for 30 days in a bid to undertake a comprehensive investigation into the death of the 27-year-old singer, Ilerioluwa Oladimeji Aloba popularly known as Mohbad. 

Citizens Compass had reported that Lagos State Police Command arrested Naira Marley, on Tuesday, October 3, 2023, on arrival to Nigeria from Overseas. .

Spokesperson of the command, Benjamin Hundeyin, confirmed the development on his verified X platform, formerly known as Twitter.

He said Magistrate Adeola Olatunbosun ruled that Naira Marley and Sam Larry should be remanded for just 21 days.

The duo are among the persons of interest in the ongoing investigation into the artist’s September 12 mysterious death.

Mohbad fell out with Naira Marley and Sam Larry after he left Marlian Record Label owned by the dreadlock-wearing singer in October last year.

The singer died on Tuesday, September 12, 2023 and was buried the following day. 

His death sparked violence across Nigerian youths and his fans which resulted into investigation over the circumstances surrounding his death. 

The Police had exhumed the body and conducted autopsy but the result is yet to be disclosed.
