Dangote truck crushes woman to death 

… LASTMA apprehends driver 

CITIZENS COMPASS —The driver of a truck belonging to Dangote Group of Companies has reportedly crushed a woman to death in the Abule-Egba area of Lagos State.

The Mixer truck with the number plate, KANO MDB 531 XA, was said to have suffered brake failure on Monday, March 25, 2024, crushed the woman to death around Abule-Egba inward Mobil Filling Station beside Jubilee Bridge, opposite a new generation Bank.

Spokesman, of Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA), Mr. Adebayo Taofiq, confirmed the incident to Citizens Compass.

He said officials of the Agency evacuated the remains of the lady underneath the Dangote truck and immediately handed it over to policemen from Oko-Oba Police Station.

According to him, “Preliminary investigations revealed that the Dangote Mixer truck while on a high speed lost control as a result of brake failure and while trying to swerve into a drainage channel crushed the innocent woman. “While the truck driver was immediately apprehended by LASTMA officials, policemen from Oko-Oba Police Station provided security backup while the rescue operations lasted.
“LASTMA Abdul Salam Nurudeen (Alpha, Zone 19 Abule-Egba/Tollgate) who led the recovery operations confirmed that his team was supported by sympathizers to remove the trapped body.

“LASTMA General Manager, Mr. Olalekan Bakare-Oki, however, warned truck owners/drivers to always ensure their trucks are properly checked including the braking system before embarking on any journey within or outside Lagos.”
