Delta PDP Guber Candidate, Sheriff Oborevwori, dragged to court over certificates

THE newly elected Governorship Candidate of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Delta State, Rt Hon Sheriff Oborevwori, has been dragged to court over alleged discrepancies in his certificates, after the party’s primary elections had been well applied and keenly contested for.

This was coming as the appeal panels of the party in Benin, on Friday, commenced sitting to address grievances arising from the primary elections held to elect candidates to fly the party’s flag at the forthcoming State House Assembly, House of Representatives and Senatorial elections in Edo State.

The suit against the Delta PDP’s candidate before a Federal High Court in Asaba, numbered FHC/ASB/CS/78/2022, has Mr. Ojei Victor Obianuju, Maize and Associates Farmers as plaintiff, while Sheriff Oborevwori Francis, PDP, and INEC are the defendants.

The affidavit in support of the originating summons, which made available to our source in Asaba on Friday, has in it the plaintiff alleging that the 1st defendant, Oborevwori, wrote his primary 6 examination in 1977 with the name Oborevwori O. Francis, while he wrote his West African Senior School Certificate Examination in June 1999 with the name Oborevwori O. Francis.

They also alleged “that the 1st defendant obtained his first degree from Ambrose Ali University, Ekpoma, Edo State on July, 14, 2004 with the name Oborevwori Sheriff Francis.

““That the 1st defendant obtained his certificate of exemption from National Youth Service Corps on March 10, 2005 with the name, Oborevwori Sheriff F.

“Also in 2009, obtained a Master’s degree in Political Science from Delta State University, Abraka with the name Oborevwori Francis Sheriff Orehwedor on September 24, 2010.”

The DEFENDER reports that Rt Hon Sheriff Oborevwori has been Speaker of Delta State House of Assembly since 11th May, 2017 until he became the PDP governorship candidate on Thursday May 26, 2022.
