CITIZENS COMPASS —A drunk driver on Christmas Day, rammed into a road median at C.M.S inward outer Marina area of Lagos.
However, he was rescued by the operatives of the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA).
LASTMA Spokesperson, Adebayo Taofik who confirmed this in a statement said the incident occurred in the morning.
According to him, “The driver of a Volkswagen Space bus with number plate, AAW 56 AA rammed into the road median at high speed and got trapped.
“A preliminary investigation revealed that the driver of the Volkswagen Space bus lost control and rammed into the road median as a result of a heavy intake of alcohol.
“Immediately the accident occurred, LASTMA personnel working around CMS outer Marina rushed to the accident scene and rescued the driver who was later rushed to ‘Odan’ General Hospital for medical treatment.
“Policemen from ‘ Lion Building’ provided security backup while Lastma personnel recovered the trapped vehicle off the media to enable free vehicular movement inward outer Marina.
“The General Manager of LASTMA Mr. Bakare Oki who was on a monitoring tour with top management of the Agency visited the accident scene and appealed to the motoring public not to drink while driving and to obey all traffic regulations in order to ensure safety.”
