CITIZENS COMPASS— The Commissioner of Police, Lagos State Command, CP Tijani Fatai, psc, mnips, on Friday, presented a cheque of One Hundred and Fifty-Seven (157) cheques amounting to Eighty-Nine Million, Two Hundred and One Thousand, Five Hundred and Twenty-Three Naira, Seven Kobo (₦89,201,523.07) to families and next-of-kin of deceased Police officers who served under the Command.
The cheques represent claims under the welfare and insurance schemes of the Nigeria Police Force, aimed at providing financial support to families of officers who lost their lives in the course of service.
The presentation, held at the Lagos State Police Command Headquarters, Ikeja, underscores the Nigeria Police Force’s commitment, under the leadership of the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu, psc(+), NPM, to the welfare of Police personnel and the families of fallen officers. The Commissioner of Police noted that while the financial support cannot replace the lives of the deceased officers, it demonstrates the Force’s resolve to honour their sacrifices and ensure that their families are not abandoned.
The Commissioner of Police sympathised with the beneficiaries and urged them to make judicious use of the funds, particularly towards the welfare and education of the children and other dependents left behind. He reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to facilitating the prompt processing of legitimate claims due to families of deceased personnel, assuring serving officers that their welfare and that of their families remain a priority of the Nigeria Police Force. He noted that while no financial provision can replace a loved one, the gesture provides a measure of relief to the affected families and reinforces the assurance that the sacrifices of fallen officers are not forgotten.
The Lagos State Police Command appreciates the Inspector-General of Police for this important intervention and extends its heartfelt sympathy and continued solidarity to the beneficiaries.
