CITIZENS COMPASS— The family of the late publisher of The Eagle Online, Dotun Oladipo, has announced his burial plans.
In the announcement made over the weekend, the family put the burial dates for Thursday and Friday September 10 and 11, 2026.
Citizens Compass reported that until his death, Oladipo was a journalist and media entrepreneur.
According to a statement signed by the Publicity Secretary of the Guild of Corporate Online Publishers (GOCOP), Ms Kemi Yesufu, the service of songs will hold at DayStar Christian Center, Oregun, Ikeja, on Thursday, September 10.
The burial service is scheduled for the same venue on Friday, September 11, after which the deceased will be laid to rest.
Oladipo served as President of GOCOP between 2017 and 2021 and was among the founding members who contributed to the establishment and development of the association.
Reacting to his death, GOCOP President, Danlami Nmodu, described the development as a painful loss to the Guild and the wider online publishing industry.
Nmodu said Oladipo played a significant role in strengthening GOCOP during its formative years and helped advance the recognition of online publishers within Nigeria’s media landscape.
He said Oladipo combined his experience in journalism with his knowledge of the publishing business to contribute meaningfully to the growth of the Guild.
Nmodu also recalled the late publisher’s commitment to developing online journalism and creating a stronger platform for digital media practitioners in Nigeria.
He remained actively involved in Nigeria’s evolving online publishing sector until his death.
His death has continued to generate tributes from colleagues and members of the media community, who have described his passing as a significant loss to Nigerian journalism and digital publishing.
