Fire ravages 60 shops at Owode – Onirin – LASEMA

 

CITIZENS COMPASS– LAGOS State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA) has confirmed that about sixty open shops were razed in the Owode-Onirin fire outbreak on Friday.

The Permanent Secretary of the Agency, Oluwafemi Oke-Osanyintolu, in his updates said the fire which occurred earlier in the day was completely put out at about 10.53pm.

He said, Owode Onirin fire Incident occurred in Lines1& 2. The fire incident affected over 60 open shops where different sizes of steel rod and pipes were stacked for sales.

“Further investigation revealed that the fire emanated from blacksmith shops. It was said the fire in one of the blacksmith furnace lines was not properly put out and re-ignited over time.

“The spread of fire was so spontaneous because of some combustible items in some of the shops on that same line.

“An appreciable progress has been made by the combined effort of the Lasema operation, LRU Fire, and Men of Lagos State fire and rescue service in putting out the fire, as damping down operation continues .

The inferno has been completely put out. Operation concluded LRT Tiger team, LRU Fire heading back to base.”
