Former Vice President, Atiku discloses next move after 2027 elections
CITIZENS COMPASS— Former Vice-President of Nigeria, Atiku Abubakar, on Wednesday, disclosed his next move after the 2027 general elections saying he would jettison any plan to contest for Presidency.
Atiku disclosed this during an interview on Arise TV.
Atiku, who has contested several times under the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) seized the opportunity to share his political journey, future plans, and the experiences he has acquired all in his quest to become the nation’s president.
According to him, “2027 will be my last attempt. The stakes are higher because I believe it will be my final chance.” He explained that after several attempts at the presidency, he is determined to give it one final push, stressing that his experience over the years has prepared him for the challenges.
Atiku, who has been a major figure in Nigerian politics for decades, has contested for the presidency multiple times under different political platforms but has not succeeded. Despite these setbacks, he has remained one of the most consistent opposition figures in the country.
He was the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party in the 2023 general election, where he lost to the ruling party candidate. Since then, he has continued to play an active role in national political discussions and opposition politics.
His latest declaration is expected to shape political conversations ahead of 2027, as supporters and critics alike react to what he describes as his “final shot” at the presidency.
