CITIZENS COMPASS— The Aare Ona Kakanfo of Yorubaland, Iba Gani Adams, has advised the Federal Government on ways to combat insecurity across the federation.

Gani Adams offered the piece of advice following the worsening insecurity bedeviling the country calling for the urgent establishment of state police as the way forward.

Aare Ona Kakanfo who disclosed this in a statement on Wednesday, said there was an urgent need to find a lasting solution to the worsening insecurity in Plateau State. He said: “It is unacceptable that citizens continue to live under the shadow of fear due to recurring attacks. Such acts undermine the fabric of our society and hinder the progress that we all desire. The safety and security of every Nigerian must be guaranteed without delay.”

He noted that the tragic event serves as a stark reminder of the ongoing security challenges in Nigeria and the need for collective action in safeguarding lives and promoting lasting peace.

Calling on the government to reassess and strengthen the current security architecture in the state to effectively tackle the root causes of the recurring insecurity, he said: “We must engage communities and local leaders in dialogue and peacebuilding efforts. We must also ensure justice is served by bringing perpetrators of these heinous acts to account, thereby deterring future violence.”
