Gas explosion razes two acres of makeshift structures in Lagos 

CITIZENS COMPASS —Some residential makeshift structures covering over two acres of land  were destroyed in another gas explosion in Lekki area of Lagos State. 

Two persons were injured while property worth Millions of Naira were also lost to the explosion which occurred on Sunday night and wreaked havoc till Monday.

It was said to have gutted residential makeshift structures covering over two acres of land at Star Road, by Horizon Heights, Ikate-Elegushi, Lekki area of Lagos State.

The incident was confirmed by the The Director, Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service, Margaret Adeseye, confirmed the incident to newsmen on Monday. 

She said n life was lost to the tragic incident.

She said emergency responders at the state were the Nigeria Police and other emergency responders. 

She said 62 camps gas were recovered during the course of firefighting that aided the spread of the fire as they kept triggering simultaneously, until the inferno was put out about 1a.m., while, mop-up exercise was concluded about 3a.m., for enumeration of property which was still ongoing at press time.

Several property destroyed in the inferno include makeshift structures, household contents, cash, among others worth millions of naira.

She said the prompt intervention of firemen from the Oniru and Lekki Phase II Fire Stations, saved the inferno from damaging adjoining property.
“At least two male adults were injured and treated by Lagos State Ambulances Service, LASAMBUS and are in stable health condition.”
