Genocide: Trump angry with Tinubu

…Threatens further action if…

CITIZENS COMPASS— The President of the United States of America (USA), President Donald Trump, yesterday, expressed anger at the administration of the President of the Nigeria, Bola Ahmed Tinubu following the ongoing genocide in the country.

Trump accused Tinubu’s government of failing to stop violent attacks on Christian communities, describing the situation as unacceptable and warned that he may take further action if the killings continue.

Trump, who spoke during an appearance on a conservative radio programme repeated his earlier threat to intervene militarily against Islamist militant groups if authorities in Nigeria do not “do more”.

He said, “Nigeria is a disgrace. The whole thing is a disgrace. They’re killing people by the thousands. It’s a genocide, and I’m really angry about it. And we pay, you know, we give a lot of subsidies to Nigeria. We’re going to end up stopping.”

His remarks came just a day after US Defence Secretary, Pete Hegseth held talks with Nigeria’s National Security Adviser, Nuhu Ribadu, at the Pentagon.

After the meeting, Hegseth wrote on 𝕏 that their discussions centred on “the horrific violence against Christians in their country,” adding, “Under @POTUS leadership, DOW is working aggressively with Nigeria to end the persecution of Christians by jihadist terrorists.”

A statement from the Pentagon later noted that both sides reviewed ongoing security operations and pointed to “tangible progress” in efforts to contain jihadist groups and protect communities at risk.

Nigeria has faced years of conflict involving armed groups in different regions, with both Christians and Muslims suffering casualties. However, the claim that Christians are experiencing “state-enabled genocide” has gained strong support among conservative voices in the United States, intensifying political pressure on the Trump administration to respond.
