CITIZENS COMPASS— The Anambra State Government on Wednesday, released a 2024 out-of-court against its former governor, Peter Obi.
Citizens Compass reports that Peter Obi is the Presidential candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) for the 2027 general elections.
The document was in connection with alleged unpaid salaries and other financial obligations allegedly linked to his time in office.
Titled “Terms of Settlement,” it was signed on February 6, 2024, between the state government and the Amalgamated Union of Public Corporations, Civil Service, Technical and Recreational Services Employees (AUPCTRE).
It concerns outstanding issues involving workers of the defunct Anambra State Water Corporation and the Anambra State Environmental Protection Agency (ANSEPA).
The state government shared the document on its official X account, describing it as fresh evidence against Obi’s claim that he left office without outstanding salaries, pensions, gratuities or other financial obligations.
In its post, the government accused the former governor of being untruthful over the issue.
“The Water Corporation Arrears — The Evidence: Peter Obi Lied,” the government wrote.
It further claimed that the Soludo administration had entered into an out-of-court settlement over salary arrears involving Water Corporation workers and was now clearing the backlog.
The settlement document records a long-running dispute involving the affected workers and the state government. Anambra State had announced in February 2024 that it reached an agreement with AUPCTRE after about 14 years of disagreement over the defunct Water Corporation and ANSEPA.
