Gunmen abduct another principal, students

CITIZENS COMPASS— Kogi State Police Command on Wednesday, confirmed the abduction of the principal of Government Secondary School, Odo-Ekina, an ad-hoc official of the National Examinations Council (NECO) and four students.

The Command said they were abducted by gunmen during the ongoing NECO examination in Dekina Local Government Area of the State.

Confirming the attack, spokesperson of the Command, Salisu Oyiza, in a statement said the attack occurred at about 5:25 p.m. on Tuesday while candidates were writing the examination.

According to her: During the incident, four students, the school principal and one NECO ad hoc staff member were abducted by the attackers.

So far, one of the abducted students has been rescued, while efforts are ongoing to secure the safe rescue of the remaining victims and apprehend the perpetrators.

According to the police spokesperson, Kogi State Commissioner of Police, Naziru Kankarofi, the Commander of the 12 Brigade of the Nigerian Army and the state’s Security Adviser were heading to the community for an on-the-spot assessment.

The attack occurred a few days after the rescue of the Ogbomosho, Oyo State students and teachers who were abducted on May 15, 2026.

Sympathisers have started donating gifts to the victims.

Among the sympathisers were a politician in Oyo State and popular singer, David Adeleke popularly known as Davido.
