Gunmen kidnap community leader, demand N100m ransom

CITIZENS COMPASS – FOUR suspected armed men have reportedly kidnapped  Mr Kelechi Uwaoma, the newly elected President  General of  Amaogwugwu Village in lkwuano Local Government Area of Abia State.

He was said to be kidnapped on Sunday. 

Eye witnesses’ account disclosed that the young men in their early thirties 

had stormed the new residential area of the village and whisked away Mr Uwaoma  to an undisclosed  location around Okigwe.

It was gathered that, the sum off N100 million Naira was demanded  as ransom  before he could be released

According to informed sources, it was during the negotiation that  it was realized that  Mr Uwaoma was not the actual target they were looking for.

At the end, the sum of N5 million  was paid as  ransom for his release after two days captiveti  and the kidnappers showared  prayers of blessing on the president before his release .

Elites of the village called on the  Abia State Commissioner of Police Mr Mustapha Mohamed Bala to help srengthen the security in the area.
