CITIZENS COMPASS— Suspected kidnappers have reportedly killed three villagers and abducted a traditional title holder in Chiromawa community in Garun Malam Local Government Area about 40 kilometers from Kano State.
The gunmen were said to have invaded the community late Saturday night shooting sporadically into the air forcing residents to escape for safety.
Confirming the attack to journalists, Chairman of Garun Malam Local Government Area, Alhaji Aminu Salisu Kadawa, revealed that the assailants killed three and injured five.
The council Chairman also confirmed the abduction of Sarkin Noma Jihar Kano, Alhaji Yusuf Nadabo Chiromawa, during an attack on Chiromawa community, and an ugly scene which he claimed lasted for several hours.
According to Kadawa, the gunmen invaded the community at about 11 p.m. on Saturday and headed to the residence of the Sarkin Noma, where they opened fire sporadically to scare residents
” Three people died, and five residents sustained injuries and are currently receiving medical treatment at a hospital. Although some security personnel had been deployed to the area to track down the attackers and secure the release of the abducted Sarkin Noma.” Kadawa said.
The council chairman said he led officials to the hospital, where they spent the night to ensure that the injured victims received adequate medical attention.
Kadawa said the Kano State Government would intensify security measures to protect residents and communities across the state. He also urged members of the public to continue praying for peace and provide security agencies with useful information that could assist in tracking the attackers and rescuing the abducted traditional leader.
The Police command in Kano is yet to react to the development as at the time of filing this report.
