…Police arrest suspect
CITIZENS COMPASS— The Kano State Police Command has recovered a stolen tricycle and arrested two suspects in connection with the recovery.
The tricycle was said to be snatched from its rider, Nasiru Ibrahim, when some unknown persons chartered the tricycle from Hotoro Quarters, Kano to Yar Gaya, Dawakin Kudu Local Government Area (LGA) along Kano-Maiduguri Highway, with an agreement to pay him the sum of N8,000:00.
Operatives of the Command went after the suspects and recovered the tricycle when the rider incidented the incident at a nearby Divisional Police station.
Details of the operation were contained in the updates by spokesperson for the Command, CSP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, on Tuesday.
According to him: On 31st September, 2026, a report was received from one Nasiru Ibrahim ‘m’ that some unknown persons chartered his tricycle from Hotoro Quarters, Kano to Yar Gaya, Dawakin Kudu LGA along Kano-Maiduguri Highway, with an agreement to pay him the sum of N8,000:00. While en-route along Kano-Maiduguri Highway, the suspects brought out locally made guns, threatened him at gunpoint and robbed him of his tricycle. They further lured him into a nearby bush and kept him there to avoid alarm, before escaping with the tricycle to an unknown destination.
Upon receipt of the report and under the direction of the Commissioner of Police, Kano State Command, CP Ibrahim Adamu Bakori, PhD, SFIPMA, MNIM, MNIPS, MASIS, sustained follow-up coupled with intelligence-led operations were emplaced. Consequently, Police Officers attached to Filin Hockey Division, Kano, on 3rd October, 2026 at about 1330hrs, traced and recovered the robbed tricycle at Wudil LGA along Kano-Maiduguri Highway.
Two suspects were arrested in connection with the crime and exhibits including one robbed tricycle and two locally made guns were recovered in their possession. The suspects are Abubakar Isah ‘m’, 27 years old and Shehu Ibrahim ‘m’, 25 years old, both of Zogarawa Village, Dawakin Kudu LGA, Kano State. During the investigation, the suspects confessed to the crime.
The Commissioner of Police commended the officers for their commitment and professionalism, and appreciated the good people of Kano State for their prayers, continuous support and cooperation.
The Command calls on members of the public, especially those who might have fallen victim to similar tricycle robbery along Kano-Maiduguri Highway, particularly Hotoro – Dawakin Kudu – Wudil axis, to come forward to Filin Hockey Police Division for identification or contact the Investigation Police Officer (IPO) on 08107292007.
Suspects will be charged to court upon completion of investigation.
