…Aroyewun gives reason
CITIZENS COMPASS— The Igbogbo/Baiyeku Local Council Development Area (IBLCDA), Ikorodu Division in Lagos State, on Thursday, kicked off the distribution of free General Certificate Examination (GCE) forms to students across the council.
IBLCDA is under the leadership of the council chairman, Omo’ba Hammed Olalekan Aroyewun (HOA).
Present were the council manager and supervisor for education and library services.
The distribution was held at the Council Secretariat targeted indigent and deserving students who are academically prepared but may be financially constrained.
Aroyewun said the initiative was a core part of the administration’s GLORY Agenda, focusing on youth empowerment and educational development.
This distribution serves as a major relief to parents and guardians, especially during a period of economic challenges. By covering the cost of registration, the Council is removing a significant barrier to education, allowing students to focus on their studies without the added financial pressure on their households. The programme underscores the administration’s commitment to supporting families in the community.
Beyond the provision of forms, the Council is ensuring students are well-prepared. Comprehensive support is being made available through the offices of the Supervisor for Education and Library Services and the Special Adviser on Student Affairs. This includes guidance on registration and plans to offer preparatory tutorials to ensure beneficiaries are fully equipped to excel in the upcoming examinations.
Beneficiaries of the programme have been encouraged to take the opportunity seriously, while parents and guardians have expressed their gratitude for the Council’s continued support for the education sector.
