CITIZENS COMPASS— The Igbogbo/Baiyeku Local Council Development Area (IBLCDA), Ikorodu Division in Lagos State, on Monday, presented its 2026 Appropriation Bill to the Legislative arm of the Council.
The Budget valued at ₦4,998,908,360.01 with the title, “Budget of Inclusive Prosperity,” was part of the steps towards developmental goals in the LCDA.
The Budget was presented during the plenary session at the Legislative Council, Asiwaju Olorunfunmi Basorun Legislative & Administrative Building of the Council Secretariat.
Citizens Compass reports that the Legislative arm is led by Princess Banjoko Basirat Adetutu who in her welcome address, reaffirmed the commitment of the House to conduct a transparent and thorough consideration of the Appropriation Bill.
Princess Banjoko stated that the Council remains focused on ensuring that allocations align with the needs and priorities of residents and would continue to uphold its oversight mandate in accordance with relevant laws.
Presenting the Budget, the Council Chairman, Omo’ba Hammed Olalekan Aroyewun, described it as “a financial blueprint shaped by community voices and guided by the GLORY Agenda.”
The proposed budget allocates ₦2,758,504,030.31 to recurrent expenditure (55.2%) and ₦2,240,404,329.70 to capital expenditure (44.8%), with targeted investments in:
* Road construction and rehabilitation,
* Strategic drainage expansion,
* Strengthened primary healthcare and disease prevention,
* Digital skills and youth empowerment,
* Market modernisation and local enterprise growth,
* Environmental improvement and waste management,
* Community security enhancement, and
* Rehabilitation of key public facilities.
Chairman Aroyewun emphasised that the 2026 fiscal plan was the outcome of extensive consultations, including the Stakeholder Budget Forum and a two-day technical retreat involving executive officers, legislators, and financial experts.
In her welcome address, Hon. Banjoko commended Aroyewun for his achievements in healthcare, education, youth development, and community infrastructure among others.
Following the presentation, the Legislative Council will now proceed to the next stages of scrutiny which include committee level evaluation, stakeholder engagement (where necessary), and final consideration at plenary.
Some notable achievements by the Council include the upgrade of Baiyeku and Ibeshe Primary Health Centres, rehabilitation of classroom blocks at Methodist Primary School, and youth-focused initiatives such as “Mentorship with HOA” and the inaugural “Igbogbo Youth Summit.”
The Chairman added that ongoing projects, such as the reconstruction of Oliwo Amoju Road and the establishment of Zumratul Islamiyyah Primary School, are set to advance significantly under the 2026 fiscal year.
Reiterating his administration’s commitment to transparency and measurable outcomes, Aroyewun declared, “Every project will be tracked, every kobo will be accounted for, and every action will serve the people.” He assured residents that the budget will drive shared prosperity, strengthen essential services, and accelerate community-wide development.
