Igbogbo-Baiyeku to resume monthly environmental sanitation
CITIZENS COMPASS— Igbogbo/Baiyeku Local Council Development Area (IBLCDA), Ikorodu Division in Lagos State, on Saturday, announced the resumption of the monthly environmental sanitation exercise.
The exercise is in line with the Lagos State Government’s directive under the leadership of Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu.
IBLCDA Chairman, Omo’ba Hammed Olalekan Aroyewun, made this known in a statement, calling on all residents, households, businesses, and community stakeholders to embrace the exercise as a collective responsibility toward building a sustainable and healthy environment.
He said the monthly exercise would commence on Saturday, April 25, 2026 with the frequency on every last Saturday of the month between 6:30a.m and 8:30a.m.
The Chairman emphasised that all residents are expected to actively participate by sweeping and clearing the refuse in front of homes, shops, and business premises, clearing blocked drainages and waterways within their immediate environment, properly disposing of waste at designated refuse collection points, refraining from indiscriminate dumping of refuse in drains, roadsides, or open spaces, educating neighbours, tenants, and household members on the importance of environmental hygiene
According to Aroyewu, “A clean environment is a healthy environment. Environmental sanitation is not merely a civic duty—it is a shared responsibility that protects our children, families, and communities from preventable diseases such as cholera, typhoid, malaria, and other sanitation-related illnesses. Under the THEMES+ Agenda of Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, we remain steadfast in our mission to deliver a cleaner, safer, and more livable Igbogbo/Baiyeku for all. Your cooperation and active participation are not just welcomed—they are essential.”
