CITIZENS COMPASS— Adedayo Ladega, Executive Chairman of Ikorodu Local Government area of Lagos State, has presented a N5.4 billion 2026 budget proposal to its legislative arm.
The budget was tagged: “Budget of Prosperity.”
Ladega, while addressing the legislative arm of the council on Monday, said the budget was 24.3 per cent above the 2025 approved appropriation.
According to him, the council’s internally generated revenue (IGR) is projected at N184,450,000 and VAT while the projected allocation from the federation account is N1,242,950,352.43, and value-added tax (VAT) is estimated at N3,756,695,711.89
The state-coordinated revenue is put at N91,500,000, while the total recurrent expenditure is N2,736,732,534 while other FAAC related allocations stood at N134, 409,723 .56.
He said the budget is realistic, practical and people-focused designed to improve life of the people of Ikorodu focused on improving security, strengthening education, improving primary health care, and delivering more development projects.
“We thank our president Bola Tinubu(GCFR) who has giving us the opportunity to plan and be ready to execute, a lot can be achieved with our allocation.
”As you can see, within the 100 days, we have done a lot of changes to the council, with support from the staff, Ikorodu will witness more impact,” he said
According to him his administration is guided by the S.E.E.D Agenda bordering on Security, Education, Enhanced healthcare and Development that would enhance economic and infrastructural development of the area.
Ladega highlighted some of his achievement since sworn in to include; mega empowerment programme for 500 beneficiaries, road project across all wards, installation of solar-powered boreholes, Mudun Mudun Ladega cash empowerment to vulnerables among others things
Earlier, Mr Wasiu Shotomiwa, Leader, Ikorodu LG legislative arm, said that the 2026 budget of prosperity is a statement of intent to invest in critical sectors like infrastructure, healthcare, education, youths and women empowerment, security and economic development.
Shotomiwa assured stakeholders that the legislature would conduct a thorough scrutiny, constructive engagement and timely consideration of the budget to ensure transparency, accountability and value for money.
“Prosperity is not assured only by the figure, but by the positive impact this figure will have on the daily lives of our people.
” Our goal is to ensure that every naira appropriated translates into visible and measurable progress for our people,” he said.
In his remark, Prince Abiodun Ogunleye, former Dep. Gov. of Lagos State, and Governor Advisory Council(GAC) member said the figure was very good considering the tremendous achievement within the shortest period he was sworn in.
“I believe he will manage the resources for positive impact and more growth to the community after scrutiny by the legislative arm,” he said.
